Classic Outdoor Axe
The Gransfors Bruks Outdoor Axe is a tried and true, versatile hatchet. This high quality tool is very portable and easily controlled with one hand. The Outdoor Axe can be used for chopping and splitting, and can serve as a knife. GB Outdoor Axe is light, yet, it can be used to fell a tree, thanks to its relatively long handle and heavy, elongated head. The Gransfors Bruks Outdoor Axe is also excellent for limbing a tree.
The handle has a protective steel collar near the head so it can be used for light wood-splitting tasks. This is a great little hatchet that is usually overlooked by Gransfors lovers. It’s ideal for outdoor enthusiasts who want a versatile axe for all their wilderness pursuits. Also, given the size and weight of this hatchet it would be a great outdoor axe for women bush crafters.
Hand Forged Swedish Axe
Scandinavians are the world’s greatest axe enthusiasts, and Gransfors Bruks is one of their finest forges. Each axe is carefully forged from the finest quality steel by an experienced smith who shows his pride in his work by stamping his initials on the head next to the company logo, and each smith is introduced in the booklet that accompanies every Gränsfors Bruks axe. After forging, each blade is ground to a 25° bevel and honed to a razor edge – handle with care! Each axe is fitted with a tight-grained hickory handle and provided with a grain-leather sheath with snap fastener.
The Outdoor Axe was developed in collaboration with Lars Fält, a well known survival expert who has spent many years teaching the Swedish Military and has published numerous books. The objective was the creation of a tool that could fulfill many roles. It is excellent for limbing, the steel collar helps facilitate light splitting and the long handle enables enough power to fell trees. The hickory handle is 15 inches (38 cm) long. The Outdoor hatchet overall weight is 1 pound, 5 ounces (590 gm). The face of the axe is 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) across, with a slight curvature.
The GB Outdoor Axe blade is very sharp. The Collar Guard protects the handle against overstrikes when splitting. A leather sheath is supplied with the Outdoor Axe. All Gransfors Axes come with the AXE BOOK and a 20 year guarantee.
