Snow and Nealley has been making quality steel tools since 1864. When you buy a Snow and Nealley tool you know you’re buying something that you’ll likely pass on to the next generation. We offer the Hudson Bay axe that’s preferred by outdoors men everywhere. Its forged from “fine” grain steel and hand worked to provide you with a look and quality that is second to none. Includes a genuine leather blade guard for your safety.Handle Length: 21″Head Length: 6-3/4″Blade Height: 4″

Snow & Nealley Hudson Bay axe is a hybrid combination between an axe and a tomahawk, made of high carbon steel produced in China, with a hickory handle from Tennessee.  It weighs about 1 pound and 12 ounces, which could put it in a backpacking category and can quite successfully be used to chop branches for starting a fire, skin an animal or chop bone. Snow and Nealley Hudson Bay Axe is perfect for hikers and campers needing the axe to chop firewood. For more than that it may not provide enough support and strength, so consider that before purchasing an axe.

I just received this axe and have had a chance to look it over. The grain on the handle is decently aligned, but not perfect. It is a bit to the side but still pretty good. The head is not perfectly straight either. It is a little to the side.

I really like it. I think another Snow and Nealley axe …

100% American made. After a short session with a Lansky puck this axe was very sharp, and made quick work out of some oak limbs for a pack frame. I really like it. I think another Snow and Nealley axe is in my future.

I found a great buy on Amazon and when I received the axe

I compared all the higher costing axes that were 200.00 and under. What initially drew my attention to this particular axe was the fact that ” Lehman’s” non electrical Amish store praised it…that is probably the reviews of the most true users, so it pulled me in. I found a great buy on Amazon and when I received the axe, I slowly looked at the critical issues that others had written about in their reviews. This included balance of a head on the handle, Center of the blade in line with Center of aft head, design flaws from craftsmanship were none, the hickory handle was straight up and down with the grain and the cutting edge and the grip and length of the handle is perfect for kindling or if necessary two handed chopping. The only con I really encountered was the sharpness of the blade. It came pre-sharpened, however, I did have to file a keener edge which took about 10 minutes. I have used the axe a lot but still like to just pick it up and hold it…it feels perfect in my hand…4 stars, only due to blade sharpening

Came extremely dull but quickly put a sharp edge on with a file. Great quality, fit, and finish
