Marbles Outdoors Knives 700SB is a small, lightweight hatchet measuring 11″ overall. It’s a backpacker’s hatchet; a hatchet that will cover some basic needs in the backwoods without adding too much weight to the pack.
Marbles hatchet for someone who wants a lightweight cutting tool to use for shaving, cutting, and splitting small pieces of wood for tinder and kindling, not hacking down a tree or splitting logs. It will be good for hammering in tent stakes. Think of this as filling a role similar to that of a large bushcraft knife, not a camp axe. If you want something more substantial and more for splitting logs, then you need to go for the Marbles Camping Axe or one of a similar size.
The Marbles Outdoors Knives 700SB Single Bit Hatchet with American Hickory Handles is certainly all that and will be a superb buy for your combat kit or tactical training. Marble hatchet measures 11″ overall. 4 3/4″ 1045 high carbon steel head with 2 1/4″ cutting edge. American hickory handle with enlarged lanyard hole.
Great hatchet, know that it is small!
It is very small, but I knew that, and they give you the dimensions in the ad, so people that are complaining about size are pretty stupid. The head is well made for what it is, I bought the husquvarna hatchet for my 11 year old daughter, it is a great value, but it’s a little too heavy for her to use with one hand, so I bought this one so she could practice skills without getting tired too quickly. I feel like the handle is however disproportionately skinny, easily fixed with a few wraps of tape, but I intend to make a cool handle out of a more custom piece I have, then it will be an heirloom gift!
This is a great hatchet, and marbles catch phrase is so good …
This is a great hatchet, and marbles catch phrase is so good I hung the box up on my wall! The hatchet came in nice packaging and was very sharp (for a hatchet) and worked well for its job (a light weight belt hatchet) except for one thing…good luck splitting even smaller logs with this thing (4inch in diameter) for it was simply not made for that, the hatchet head is very small and slim, simply not good for splitting are large tree felling. I also didn’t like how marbles didn’t include at least a blade guard, but that’s ok just make a belt sheath out of duct tape and bam! Problem solved! Good luck finding an aftermarket sheath on this thing though, everyone just loves the marbles camp axe.
I like it. Fun little axe
Cool little axe. Very small. Doesn’t come super sharp so you’ll have to touch it up, but that’s fine. I wish it came with a sheath, but overall decent little camp chore and small task pack tool. You’re NOT going to process a lot of wood with this.
Nice, but REALLY SMALL!!!!
Nice head but I had to replace the handle
Nice head but I had to replace the handle, it was much shorter and skinnier then I imagined it would be.
Great for carving, nice quality
This is a great mini axe , for the very small jobs . I just love this thing ..
Perfect sized head for roughing out my carving projects
Perfect sized head for roughing out my carving projects. Great steel… The handle is a bit thin to be comfortable. I wish it came with a sheath.
