There are lots of reasons why the Leek is so popular

The Kershaw Leek just may be the ideal EDC. With its 3-inch blade, the Leek is a good-sized knife, but not too big. The slim design makes it easy to carry and its razor-sharp blade of high-performance Sandvik 14C28N means it can take care of a full range of cutting tasks.  Trusty, resilient and versatile pocket knife bares a distinctive design by Ken Onion and will be ready for action year after year.

The blade is a modified drop-point, so it’s a good slicing knife, while the slim tip gives it piercing capability and the ability to do detailed work. For a partially serrated blade, choose the 1660ST Leek. The Leek features the SpeedSafe ambidextrous assisted opening system. Whether you’re left-handed or right-handed, just pull back on the flipper or push outward on the thumbstud and the Leek’s blade is ready to go to work.

In addition to its 14C28N blade, this Leek features a handle of pure stainless steel that gives it a clean, sleek look. For confident blade use, a super-secure frame lock keeps the blade locked during use and a Tip-Lock slider locks the blade closed when folded. The pocketclip can be configured for tip-up or tip-down carry and the handle is drilled to accept a lanyard.

Featuring a 3-inch blade with a drop-point tip and partially serrated combo edge, the Leek is able to easily tear through both simple and complex cutting tasks. The silver-colored stainless steel blade has an amazingly thin titanium oxide coating (only one half of one millionth of a meter), which gives the blade increased scratch-resistance and ceramic-like durability.

With a closed length of only four inches and a 3.1 ounce total weight, this knife is incredibly light and portable but still powerful. You’ll love the way the patented Speed Safe assisted-opening system allows you to open this knife in a flash. Simply take hold of the stainless steel handle and begin to open using the thumb studs or index opening system and the torsion bar takes over the work, quickly and safely forcing the blade open. The liner lock locking mechanism keeps the blade firmly in place, so you can safely go about your work without worrying about loosing any fingers. With the removable pocket clip, you can take this incredible knife anywhere you’ll need it.

Kershaw 1660 ST Ken Onion Aluminum Serrated Leek Pocket Knife clipped to your pocket. With its strong and durable material and versatile combination blade, this folding knife will be ready and able to handle anything you put it to.

The Leek series includes some of our most popular knives. And no wonder. Kershaw’s Leeks offer Ken Onion’s distinctive design as well as the SpeedSafe(R) ambidextrous assisted opening system. With SpeedSafe, you can smoothly and easily deploy the blade with one hand, either left or right. Leeks come in a wide variety of handle styles, some with technologically advanced coatings for enhanced performance. From simple bead-blasted stainless steel to “smoked” aluminum to a wide array of colors, you’ll find a Leek that’s the perfect everyday carrying knife for you. All Leeks include a safety tip-lock and a reversible/removable pocket clip. SPECIFICATIONS: Made in the USA Steel: Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel Handle: 410 stainless-steel Blade Length: 3 in. Great knife

This is my favorite pocket knife. I won my original Leek from a raffle at work. It’s the only knife I’ve never lost, and it’s been my EDC for over 3 years. Unfortunately, I dropped it when putting my things back in my pockets (had to go through a metal detector on a job) and it broke the spring assist and several screws fell out. I was absolutely sick about it.

It still looks nice and is actually easier to wrap

I bought this as a gift. It came in a kershaw box, not the blister pack thing you see them in at sporting goods stores. It still looks nice and is actually easier to wrap, so that’s cool.

Great knife but be cautious with the pocket clip!

This is my second Kershaw Ken Onion Leek. I thoroughly enjoy the shape and the assisted opening. It has plenty of spring to the opening mechanism. I really like the shape of the blade. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars was because the clip can easily slip off of your pocket which will cause you to lose it. That is the reason I ended up purchasing a second one which is the one I am reviewing. I lost the first one when I was in the woods. I believe it happened when I squatted down to pick something up and the pressure from my leg popped it loose and out of my pocket. I wish the clip we’re just a little bit tighter.

Great EDC Knife With One Drawback

I was looking for an EDC knife a little smaller and less intimidating than my SpyderCo Police or Cold Steel Recon. This is the right size and is thinner than most of the types with synthetic scales. The assisted opening is impressive. I don’t know the legal technicalities but as far as I’m concerned it functionally the same as a classic Italian switchblade I had decades ago.

Best kershaw for the money.

I own multiple kershaw knives, and this by far is my favorite so far. Some of my other ones are bulky which I didn’t mind, till I bought this one. Just about the perfect size, slim, disappears in your pocket. Razor sharp blade out of the box, quick deploying, and a thumb stud you can actually use (my others are so recessed that I cannot use them), but the flipper works well also. Only gripe is that it isn’t grippy, which can be fixed with the G10 scales version, but at 3 times the price.

My favorite folding knife.

I’ve purchased two of these, only because I misplaced the first one and wanted the same one again. The knife is awesome. It opens swiftly, and easily with one hand. It comes very sharp, and keeps an edge well. I’ve sharpened it many times and it can still shave hair off my arm. One of my favorite things about this knife is how narrow it is, even with the clip, I barely notice it in my pocket. It fits perfectly in the small pocket of my jeans.

Kershaw knifes are designed to be functional, not displayed. To this end, they’re a good value. The quality is top notch with two exceptions. One, the assisted opening function varies between models & even individual knives with the larger knives being more sure. I own all the models from the Chive to the Shallot & the one hand opening feature works about 80% to 90% on all my knives with no hand movement. (The Shallot I own has never failed) With a little flip of my wrist, this goes to 100% even with the Chive. The second problem is a bit more concerning. As mentioned by other reviewers, the closed blade lock is terrible. It’s a little plastic pin that is easily broken off. I’m sure they use plastic to protect the edge of the blade but if you forget to take it off before you open the knife or it should slide to the locked position when you close it, it is not going to last long.

Very sharp blade

This knife is just the right length for an EDC, and it shipped with a razor edge. The blade lock is also very useful to put my mind at ease each time I go to stand or sit…

A very nice everyday carry!

I am very impressed with the quality of pocket knife. It fits in the pocket nicely without pocket drag. It’s light but made sturdy. The factory edge is sharp and has a needle tip. The blade flips out with little effort and the locking mechanism in the closed position is comfortable to use. I’m not a fan of liner locks but I can close this knife with one hand with a little practice. I own quite a few pocket knifes and this one has become my everyday carry. You can’t go wrong buying this knife.
