Anyone need to axe me a question? ;D
Out of the box – beautiful. The rugged kind of beauty you’d expect. The head is hammered to finish with what looks like a ground polish down to a sharpened edge. Noted on the edge of this blade is a small Nick in the edge, something I think will disappear with is and sharpening. The wooden handle is gorgeous and built ergonomically perfectly for the tasks suited to this hatchet. The leather sheath is also superb, it smells of real leather and is built with an interesting design. It does allow you to slide a belt through to holster the sheath, though it may be unpractical and difficult to deholster.
Versatile Field Tool
Nice hatchet. What I would expect from Hults Bruk. Don’t expect much swinging leverage with the small handle, but it’s a great field tool that is very versatile and lighter than expected.
Wow, this is truly a workhorse of an axe and climbs above the competition in all aspects
This is an amazing axe. I have seriously underestimated the quality of the Hults Bruk Axe line. The head is every bit as good as any Gransfors or whetterlings that I have used and is better balanced with the handle. The axe is very ergonomic, meaning that it does very well for roughing out carving pieces, while not causing fatigue. I used this axe to rough out several spoons over the course of an hour or two without fatigue. The handle selection was right on and everything about this axe says that it is a workhorse and not something you buy for the name. The sheath is much higher quality over the competition.
Excellent detail carving axe/hatchet
I had my eye on this for some time. I wanted a small carving axe that gave me as much control as possible as an intermediate step between roughing out with a larger hatchet, and knife carving. This for the bill perfectly.
I like it, however
Swedish made Hults Bruk Jonaker hatchet. I like it, however, for the price that Hults Bruk is getting for this hatchet you would think that they would do a better foundry clean up for a finished product. So, I paid $124.00 for a Swedish piece of steel and a hickory stick. I think they could do better. However, I gave it 4/5 for this reason. Had the head been cleaned up and buffed out. Yeah 5 stars for sure. On a more positive note. The head was seated properly, no problems there. Sheath is well made thick oiled leather, a plus there.
Nice small axe. Works great for making small pieces of wood to start fire.
nice Hatchet. slight flaw in the metal but nothing worth sending back
Great price for quality. No need to buy one of those several hundred dollar ones because you saw it on TV. This one is excellent.
Wonderful Size, excellent Axe
What can I say? I’m a fanboy of Swedish Steel, particularly axes. The size and weight of the hatchet is perfect for carrying at all times as I hike for “random acts of trail maitanence”. I just hook it inside the left side of my hip belt and I can remove it at ease to chop stray branches or chop steps into treefall for myself and others. And it cuts wood like butter. I bought a Gransfor Bruk Wildlife hatchet and wound up giving it to my son as I was unhappy with the “cheap” leather sheath. The Gransfor itself was fine but the sheath or hood is part of the picture and on the Hults the full grain leather hood is great. The steel is great, came with a good edge and sharpens quickly, do be aware that this is high carbon and will rust quickly, I take a small bottle of oil, a stone and a rag into the field to keep this hatchet in tip top shape. I have three Husquavara axes and hatchets and they are a wonderful value, however, they don’t make a “pee wee”. Again, excellent axe, most especially for the backcountry and when considering a survival knife or axe.. hey it’s axe/hatchet all the way!!! God Bless and be well.
