Benchmade 940 Osborne Review

Benchmade 940 Pocket Knife is a masterfully created knife. Visually stunning, its looks are matched by expert design and top-quality materials. It’s perfectly suited to be an EDC knife and its dimensions and weight mean that it is easily stored in your pocket without a fuss. The S30V steel blade is sturdy and sharp, and able to keep its edge longer than most knives. Ergonomically, the design makes for easy handling and control. Overall, the 940 lives up to its company’s mantra, “It’s not a knife… it’s a Benchmade.” The 940 is in a league of its own.

Whether in your pocket or your hand, the slender curvature and contouring of the 940 Osborne knife make it a perfect everyday carry knife. The 940 Osborne is equipped with a S30V premium stainless-steel blade with a modified reverse Tanto design. The green anodized aluminum handle, meanwhile, is comfortable in the hand, with a stainless-steel liner and color-anodized titanium back spacer for longevity. Finally, the blade is a breeze to open thanks to the ambidextrous dual thumb stud opener. Other features include an Axis locking mechanism and a reversible steel pocket clip.

When we talk about the ideal EDC pocket knife we’re talking about the perfect blend of design. We’re not just talking about how well it holds its edge, or how good the material is. We’re talking about a blend of design, quality, capability, materials and ergonomics. The Benchmade 940 Osborne is one of the few knives I’ve come across that is an infusion of these factors. It’s unique. It’s practical. It’s top-quality.

Customer Reviews

Mine came hair shaving sharp and genuine even though it shipped by distributor "NetRush".

Ordered this knife through Benchmade but received it from a company called “NetRush”. Was afraid I might not get a genuine Benchmade but upon unpackaging from it’s nice box I knew that it was obviously high quality and genuine. Unlike what many people experienced mine came hair-cutting sharp out of the box, effortlessly cutting hair off my arm. I own and love a ton of Spyderco and this is my first foray into Benchmade. I love the flick style of Spyderco and honestly didn’t think I would like the “axis” lock mechanism but it’s indeed as good as everybody says. Been EDC’ing this knife for a few days instead of my PM2 and so far I really enjoy it. Fit and finish and blade centering was near perfect—I know this has been an issue with many Benchmade made knives, they must be really upping their game to match their prices. The only semi issue I had was the clip on this knife looked a little scratched up but it must be the style as the knife is perfect in every way otherwise. I plan on replacing the clip with a deep carry anyways (I hear you can request them for free from Benchmade.) No regrets with this purchase.

Perfect knife I love love love this knife it’s smooth fast and very sharp well built and this is coming from a high end knife collector and I use this knife everyday, almost disappears in the pocket but comes alive when you need it to save the day for cutting your kids toys out of those vile packages and great for cutting everyday and heavy task items also.

I’ve been doing a lot of research on high-end EDC pocket knives. This knife came razor-sharp out of the box. It easily shaved hair from my arm and passed the paper test with flying colors.

The grip is comfortable in your hand (I have relatively large hands)

Blade is exceptionally razor sharp, it will literally shave the hair off your arm. The grip is comfortable in your hand (I have relatively large hands). There is no spring or opening assist like other Benchmade knives, however with a flick of the wrist the blade opens quickly and locks solid in place for use. Overall it is a good knife backed by a great warranty. The only issue I have is the price, $190+

Basically the best knife money can buy

Basically the best knife money can buy, I was skeptical, but my the 940 came highly recommenced by my buddy and I have been nothing but amazed by this knife’s design, ease of use, amazing axis lock and everything about it. Only complaint is it doesn’t hold an edge as some other blades but no big deal.

A perfect edc knife

I’m no knife specialist or collector, but I have gone through a couple of knives, and this is the best one by far.

but think I am going to love this one

Don’t normally post a review on the same day I receive a product… but think I am going to love this one. I am a small guy and enjoy my PM2’s, but sometimes they are a little much for my slacks and shorts. This knife has a smaller footprint but with basically the same blade length. Not really a fan of green handles, but it is not an ugly green and the handle feels great in your hand! I did the paper cutting test and the knife failed. And then I tried to shave arm hair and was not impressed. BUT, when I tasked it with other light duty stuff… I learned in a hurry it came with one VERY sharp blade!!

Could come a bit sharper

Great feeling knife. I was concerned the metal scales would be slick but their finish provides a great grip even wet. Benchmade makes a solid knife but I do wish it came a bit sharper out of the box. But that’s still not enough to knock a star off the rating. This has become my daily carry knife.

It is awesome. High quality and

I Love this knife. I’m a collector and have been looking for a light weight EDC but with a longer blade. Just got mine today. Been waiting like ti was Christmas. So many good reviews. Was actually surprised how small and light it is, and thin. This is my new EDC starting NOW! Pricey little bugger and I do not care for th epocket clip at all. Not a deep carry and way to big but that is easily changed with an efter market ti clip. Although, should already come with one. But that is not a deal killer by any stretch. The blase is just as long as a regualr Griptilian. Not near as thick. This thing is just amazing in my book. Techture is a little chauly but I like it, sure it will feel a little better with some wear and oil. Just love this knife and Amazon. THANK YOU!
