Hatchet Happiness

Love it. I use it all the time. Super handy. Sharpens easy. You want to make sure you have a sharpener with you to keep this hatchet working and safe. It is light but handles very well. I have used it in several back-county situations and I was glad I had it. It is for light use and though you could take down a tree, its works very well with 4″ diameter branches or smaller. Again, it is handy enough to justify the extra weight when weight is a concern. It is compact and packs nicely. I have it on the outside of my pack for easy access. I am not a hard core backpacker, but I do get in the back country.

Excellent tool for hiking and camping

By run slow, finish whenever
Being a woman out hiking many times just alone with my dog, it’s important to me to have tools with which I can take care of my own survival and protection without being too bulked down or having things placed inaccessibly. I actually first thought of this hatchet because I’ve seen Bear Grylls using his own marketed products on his show, and looking them up online gave a lot of positive reviews. I also had my husband take a look at one in the store to tell me what he thought and it got the thumbs up for practicality, weight, and ease of use. I finally purchased for a big group adventure and I was really impressed. It fit nicely in my belt loop and was light enough where it didn’t clunk around everywhere, although I don’t know if I would keep it there every time I went out. The handle is very comfortable and grippy so even with my small hands I didn’t have an issue keeping hold. The hatchet works great for splitting firewood, clearing paths/brush, etc. It comes with a nylon sheath which I would not carry it without, but it’s a bit cumbersome so it’s not going to be something you can just whip out if you need it in an emergency defensive situation with little reaction time. As a survival tool, this definitely fit the bill for me and I will continue to carry it in my pack.

Ok so usually when u see Bear Grylls your brain is already not allowing you to take any of his branded stuff seriously since it’s everywhere and in every kmart and walmart. I didnt even consider this brand even if it’s from Gerber. Well i took a chance on it and i loved it.

Nice camp/survival item

Great hatchet with many small features that make it more user friendly. The blade is very sharp and if clean can double as a knife, just chock your hand up close to the head for more control and use just like you would a knife. We had to use this to cut down a tree because it was the only thing we had on hand and I forgot the key to my trail cam lock 350 miles away. Took some elbow grease but when done my brother was impressed and bought one for himself.

the hatchet was excellent for shaving small kindling

 on April 18, 2016

I thought I could use this hatchet to chop standard cut firewood logs into quarters, but that didn’t work well. It’s not this hatchet’s fault. Instead, need the right tool for the right job, and this didn’t meet the need. However, the hatchet was excellent for shaving small kindling, pounding tent steaks and was sharp enough to cut quarter-inch laundry line at the camp site. Quite a handy convenience tool that worked well for my limited needs. For sure though, will purchase bigger and purpose-built hatchet for splitting logs that are already cut-to-size campfire logs.

One of my favorite Bear Grylls items

This is one of my favorite Bear Grylls items. this is compact and straps to the side of my hiking pack easily without being noticeable while out on long treks. This allows you to access it easily without sacrificing room inside the pack that can be utilized for other things. One of the best features on this item is the ergo finger grips near the base of the blade that allow you to maneuver it easily when you’re working on something that takes a little more finesse than just hacking and chopping.

  1. This survival hatchet is the next best thing besides having Bear Grylls by your side. The axe delivers and performs as promised. Bear’s survival guide could be the difference maker on your journey. All in all, best survival axe you can buy. Why take a chance when you don’t have to? Safe journeys to all.
